Surgical and medical re-usable instruments, textiles, devices made out of glass, rubber, plastic and other material are disinfected in steam sterilisers. Autoclaves have basic connection requirements to water supply, electricity and drains, there are no special disinfecting liquids needed. The autoclave works by using a combination of high temperature steam and pressure as part of the sterilisation process. It is a proven method of destruction and/or removal of all micro-organisms including spores.
Tibor Health Care supplies several types of autoclaves — bench top, top loading and front loading sterilisers. The latter ones can be either feed through on non-feed through.
Bench top steam sterilisers are used for smaller loads in dental clinics, GP surgeries, sub-sterilising units. Top loading autoclaves are used in labs and pharmacies and have cylindrical chambers. Front loading autoclaves can vary in size and range between 60 litre and 2,000 litres. The chamber profile can be either square or rectangular.
